Keeping a budget

13th November, 2008

After doing a little research online for the right budgeting software, I have come across three that seem to be fitting for my purpose. I thought I would share my findings here for anyone looking for a way to keep a budget themselves.

  • Buddi: a personal finance and budgeting program, aimed at those who have little or no financial background.
  • GnuCash: personal and small-business financial-accounting software (free opensource). Allows you to track bank accounts, stocks, income and expenses. As quick and intuitive to use as a checkbook register, it is based on professional accounting principles to ensure balanced books and accurate reports.
  • PearBudget: a really simple budgeting and expense tracking service ($3 per month). Stated as easier to use then Quicken.
