Internet Commerce
5th March, 2008I have been working on getting Graphic Love Juice internet commerce friendly. The original plan was to have a customized e-store for purchasing products (designs and t-shirts) but things fell through and I’m three months behind schedule. Depending on a programmer that is busy with his own life to participate in projects like this can become a big headache, so I have to do it by myself. I am no programmer, but there are things that allow one to set this type of thing up.
I am using Netfirms, a web hosting company I have used for a long time. They are reasonably priced and provide a lot for your domain. I upgraded my account to have some cool features that the base account doesn’t offer. The way I am running a store is through ” Netfirms Commerce Pro”. This allows me to “sell my products online using an Amazon-style shopping cart. I can also use this feature as a standalone e-store, or integrate it into your existing website”. It’s pretty intuitive, but a little clumsy and takes a little knowledge of html and php in order to make it the way I want it. I am learning as I go.
For payment modules, I have decided to accept checks, money orders and PayPal. I know that there have been issues with PayPal, but this is the easiest way for me to accept payments without getting a setup done specifically for my needs which would cost a lot of money, or become a burden for a friend. I don’t know of many other options that are friendly for this project. So we’ll see how it goes. This can always be changed later if need be, but for now its my best option.
Tobey and I have a lot of things we can put on the new store, but for now, I want to show what I have inventory of. New products will start being present once things start flowing and I have the site where I want it, visually. So, if you want to check out what I’ve done, feel free to take a peek! Shop’s open! Buy away!

I am no longer using those portals and have decided to go the simple route of using my blog on www.graphiclovejuice.com/news to have buttons for a PayPal option. It has worked extremely well.
