Pro-bono Love

Work for free! You must have alot of time on your hands to be able to do this! Actually, it’s the other way around. I put in at least 50 hours a week for my day job (which doesn’t include concepting for new campaigns and market research). Freelance work averages around 10-25 hours a week. If I sleep an average of 50 hours a week then that only leaves me with about 40 hours left to myself. Factor in eating, exercising, some video gaming, driving!, etc., there isn’t enough time in the day to breath!

So why work for free? Let me explain …

For the past three years, I have invested many hours into a Non-Profit organization called SPARCC (Safe Place and Rape Crisis Center). My main contact there I met at a poetry gathering at a local coffee house I went to on a weekly basis. At the time I was a student looking to be as proactive in the community as possible, as well as building my portfolio. When Diana sought after a venue to throw an event, I not only set her up with a venue but offered my services to advertise the event.

Diana works for SPARCC. Her organization provides women and men and their children a place to go when there is no where else to turn to during a domestic dispute or when these individuals are being abused and need help. The organization is helping people in time of need. If we all donated our time to more organizations like this the world would be a better place.
